West Division Rules

Playing Rules

  1. The West Michigan Adray Board shall consist of the West Adray Vice President and one Adray Director from each association. The Board of Directors for West Michigan will make the final decisions on all league matters.
  2. Associations will have only one vote in all league decisions and or matters. The Vice-President will only vote in the event of a tie unless the Vice- President is also a director from an association. In such an event the Vice-President is only allowed one vote. All matters that are voted on must be approved by a majority of Directors present to be adopted.
  3. All matters of divisional involvement will first be attempted to be resolved within the division prior to any Adray Board of Directors involvement. All Communications shall include the Vice-President and the directors from both respective associations.
  4. Associations shall conduct their drafts in accordance to MAHA rules and regulations and draft rules must be approved by the MAHA District Council
  5. All associations shall furnish a copy of their certified USA Hockey Player Rosters for all teams to the Vice-President prior to the start of any league games. Failure to do so could result in games played not counting towards the standings
  6. The Board of Directors shall have the authority to impose initial or additional suspensions for any conduct that the board decides to be detrimental to the league
  7. All league games shall be played using equal ice systems in all age divisions. All matters involving equal ice will be turned over to the Conduct Committee for review and any action.
  8. In the event a player or coach receives a game misconduct penalty during a league game, that player or coach shall sit out the balance of that game and the next Adray League game. (This could result in a player or coach being disqualified for the game in which the penalty occurred plus two additional games).
  9. The West Michigan Adray B League shall be governed by the rules and regulations of MAHA and USA Hockey.
  10. A protested game MUST be noted immediately to the opposing coach and game official (at next stoppage of play) and on the score sheet at the end of the game. The nature of the protest MUST appear on all copies of the score sheet and both coaches and games officials must sign under worded protest. All formal protests must be filed(postmarked) within 24 hours of the incident. A copy of the score sheet and a check for $50.00 (payable to ACHL) must be submitted to any West Michigan Adray league board director. The director will then notify the Vice-President. The Conduct Committee will investigate the protest, rule on it and notify in writing all parties involved. If an association or team official wishes to appeal the decision of the Conduct Committee, the appeal must be presented to the Vice-President within 72 hours of the Conduct Committee’s decision or date of postmark which ever is later. The Vice-President shall then call a special meeting of the Board of Directors to hear the appeal. A Simple majority of the Board of Directors present and voting will determine if the appeal is approved or denied. Action on such appeal is final.
  11. Only rostered team players in uniform and up to four rostered coach’s are allowed on the player’s bench .
  12. The home team must furnish the game puck, at least two registered game officials, a time keeper and a reasonable and adequate amount of game ice for all league games. NO TIME OUTS allowed in Adray league games.
  13. All Squirt league games shall consist of 3- 12 minute periods of stop time play. All Pee Wee league games shall consist of 3-12 minute periods of stop time play. All Bantam league games shall consist of 3- 14 minute periods of stop time play and all Midget games shall consist of 3- 15 minute periods of stop time play. No Running clocks allowed. The league has no authority to question the judgment of arena personnel in their decisions regarding curfew clocks, therefore all league games must adhere to arena curfew clocks which may shorten the third period of any given game
  14. . If less than six players are available at the time the game official drops the puck, the game will be forfeited. No game will be played. The only exception to this rule will be in the case of extreme weather in which the game shall be rescheduled within 5 days and played prior to the end of league play. There shall be reasonable effort made by both teams to reschedule all league games with preference given first to league games before non league games
  15. The coach is responsible for the conduct of all players before, during and after all league games.
  16. All league fees and playoff fees are due by the stated deadlines. Failure to pay by the stated deadlines could result in associations not participating in the West Michigan Adray B league. Any associations not providing adequate(usable ice) ice for playoffs will be surcharged $100.00 per team participating.
  17. Game Officials that are related to a player or coach on the ice should only be used as linesman. The game official must notify the coach of the opposing team prior to the start of the game
  18. New associations may be added to the West Michigan Adray B league with a majority vote by the current Board of Directors. All associations belonging to the Adray league must be approved by MAHA and be an association in good standing. Failure to be an association in good standing will immediately result in all teams from that association being disqualified from league play and ineligible for playoffs
  19. All teams, upon acceptance of their association to the West Michigan Adray B league shall make every attempt to play all of the scheduled league and playoff games. Failure to play scheduled league games will disqualify a team from further league play. The only exception would be in the event of extreme weather and the game would need to be rescheduled within 5 days.
  20. A Conduct Committee will be set up each season with the Vice-President and three Board of Directors Sitting on the committee. The purpose of this committee will be to review any matters involving players, coach’s or team officials in which any action taken may be detrimental to the league and to address game protests

Play-off Rules

  1.  All scheduled games will be played according to MAHA/USA Hockey playing rules.
  2. All scheduled games will be played according to the schedule published by the West Michigan Adray Playoff Committee. There are no exceptions.  If a team fails to participate in any playoff games, the head coach and coaching staff will be suspended from league play the following season as per the Greater West Michigan By-laws.
  3.  All teams are expected to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to any scheduled playoff game and be ready to start the game 10 minutes prior to posted game times.
  4. Home team wears white, visitor team wears dark.
  5. First team listed on Tournament schedule is the Home Team, except Championship game - highest seeded team is Home Team.
  6. Protest fee of $50.00.  Referee on-ice decisions are not eligible for protest.  If a game is protested, it must be stopped and the protest made to the referee who will make sure the protest information is relayed to the other team and noted on the score sheet.  At the end of the game, each coach must sign the score sheet noting there is a protest.  Protests will be ruled on by the Adray Vice-President and acting Tournament Official.
  7. All games will be played using the following rules:

    If there is a 6 goal or greater lead going into or during the 3rd period there will be a running clock.  If the goal differential during the 3rd period goes below 6, then a stopped clock will resume.

    **Maximum goal differential in all games is (6) six

    There are no Time-outs in round robin play, each team is allowed one(one-Minute) time out in the semi finals and championship games..

    Warm-ups 3-Minutes
    Squirts            3-12 Minute Periods
                Pee Wee          3-12 Minute Periods
                Bantams         3-14 Minute Periods
    Midgets           3-15 Minute Periods

  8. Points for Tournament scoring:
    1.  2 points for a win
    2.  1 point for a tie
    3.  0 points for a loss

     

  9. In the case of a tie in total points after Round Robin games the following will be used to break the tie:
    A: The outcome of the game between the two tied teams played winner advances
    B: The difference between goal for and goals against.  The highest positive total advances
    C: Most goals scored in the tournament.  Highest positive total advances.
    D:  The first goal scored in the game of the two teams played, that team advances.
    **Maximum goal differential in all games is (6) six
  10. In the event of a 3 tied teams, all games played in the tournament will be used.
    Once the tie is broken with any of the teams, the remaining tied teams start over with tiebreaker rule 9-1.
  11. A championship game or semi-final game that is tied at the end of regulation time will conclude in the following way:
    A: One 5 on 5, 5 minute sudden death overtime period
    B: Shootout 3 players from each team, best score of the 3 players win.  If still tied after the 3 players, then sudden death shootout between teams one player at a time, no player may repeat in shootout until all players have shot, then the order will remain the same as the first round

     

    **  Any game misconduct penalty incurred during the Tournament games will result in the player or coach being suspended from the next Tournament game.
